Davis, B. Johnson on 1st team

McPherson High’s Tyler Davis, the Class 5A state champion at 145 pounds, earned first-team AVCTL Division II status.
He was joined on the first team by 119-pounder Beau Johnson, who shared first-team honors with Arkansas City’s Colby Watters.
The league selections are based on results in league matches only.
Davis was 5-0 against the division and was 32-1 on the year. Johnson was 4-1 against the league and 21-14 overall.
Two Bullpups earned second-team honors, Tim Prescott at 112 (4-1, 32-6) and Zach Lanning at 189 (4-1, 22-14).
Parker Johnson was the other Bullpup to earn honors, as he was honorable mention at 215 (3-2, 22-12).
Valley Center’s Cade Blair, the 4A state champion at 152 who was 45-0, was named Wrestler of the Year, while the Hornets’ Brian Shelton was Coach of the Year.
