Each year, your McPherson Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee organizes the Farm Forum, which has been taking place for the past 24 years.  Dale Ladd, Chair of the Farm Forum planning committee, directs the research of current key topics and issues affecting the agriculture sector of our community and county.
The 2009 Farm Forum topic will be “The Impact of Homeland Security on McPherson County Agriculture.” A panel of speakers who will be discussing both the present and the future impacts include;  Senator Jay Emler, Dillard Webster – McPherson County Emergency Management Director, and Dan Hay – Kansas Division of Homeland Security.  Questions and answers from the audience will be welcomed.
The Agriculture Committee will make an honors presentation at the Farm Forum.  This year, the 2008 “Farm Family of the Year” will be presented to Jay and Amy Warner and the 2008 “Friend of Agriculture” will be awarded to Charlie Williams.
The 2009 Farm Forum is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the 4-H Building located on West Woodside. The McPherson High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter will serve the evening meal.  Reservations for can be made by calling 241-3303.  There is a small fee for the dinner, in addition to one non-perishable food item to benefit the McPherson County Food Bank.  Deadline for reservations is Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009.
