The McPherson Gympups recently wrapped up their season in the Missouri Valley Championships.
The Level 7 team took second place, while the Level 4s and Level 5s both placed fifth.
McPherson had two all-around champions, Chloe Jones and Michaela Bowers. Jones also was individual champion in bars, beam and floor events. Bowers was an individual event champion in the vault and floor events.
Other individual event winners were Marah Franz (bars), Nina Scruton (floor), Samantha Goodell (floor), Brigitte Wilhelm (vault), Taylor Neufeldt (vault) and Lacy Dimitt (vault).
Every girl on the team finished the meet with least one event that was their highest score of the season, and some had more than one.
In addition to Bowers and Jones, Franz was the Level 5 11-age runner-up, Scruton was the Level 6 10-11 age runner-up, Samantha Goodell was the runner-up in age 14-16, Marisa Miller was runner-up in Level 7 13-14 and Lacy Dimitt was Level 7 age 15-and-up runner-up.
This is a year-round sport. The girls will be taking a short break and then will get back into the gym to begin work on next season. There were 24 girls at the start of the year and it is hoped there will be 30 next season.
