Many locations have been set up around Pittsburg to collect donations for those affected by the Joplin tornado. Below are answers to some
frequently-asked questions.

What items are the collection sites accepting?
• New and used clothing and shoes (any age, any size)
• New undergarments (for men, women and children)
• Infant supplies, including diapers and formula
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrushes
• Soap
• Deodorant
• Non-perishable food
• Flashlights
• Batteries
• Blankets
• Camping cookware
• Tennis shoes
• Sunscreen
• Other hygiene products

Where can I take the items I’ve collected?
• Weede Gymnasium — Pittsburg State University
• USD 246 board office — 1001 E. South Street, Arma
• Lakeside Elementary — 709 S. College, Pittsburg
• George Nettels Elementary — 2012 S. Homer, Pittsburg
• Meadowlark Elementary — 1602 E. 20th, Pittsburg
• Pittsburg Community Middle School — 1310 N. Broadway, Pittsburg
• Family Resource Center — 1700 N. Locust, Pittsburg
• Bevan Education Center — 510 Deill, Pittsburg
• Meadowbrook Mall — 202 E. Centennial, Pittsburg
• Girard American Legion — Girard

I don’t have time to collect supplies, but I have money to spare. What can I do?
An account has also been established at Girard National Bank for the Joplin tornado victims. Any donations can be made at the bank. Contact GNB at (620)724-8223.

Which collection sites do you know are seeking volunteers?
• To volunteer for two-hour shifts at the Pitt State collection site, contact the athletics department at (620)235-4646, or (620)235-4389.
• The Pittsburg Area Young Professionals need volunteers to staff their collection table at Meadowbrook Mall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and to sort and load the trailer. Contact PAYP Service Chair Jaime Vanderbeck at jvanderb@pittstate.edu.
• The American Legion said it may need volunteers who own trucks and trailers to help transport goods. Email your name and phone number to girardchamber@ckt.net and Legion officials will call you if help is needed.
