To the Editor:
I am a teenager volunteering at the Hu-mane Society. I am very surprised at the large number of homeless cats and kittens they have.
Some of the cats end up there because their owners have health problems or can’t take care of them for some other reason. Some end up there because pet owners don’t spay and neuter their cats and then they end up with a bunch of kittens that they don’t want.
It saddens me that some cats have been there most of their lives and have never experienced a loving and caring home. Why buy a cat from a pet store when instead you can adopt a homeless animal that needs your help? You are helping a cat from the Humane Society.
Even though I already have three cats, I have convinced my parents to adopt one more. I challenge the members of our community to adopt one of more of the many beautiful and friendly cats at the Humane Society.
Visit them in their new location behind the tennis courts from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday or from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
