PHOENIX, Ariz. - LaVern "Buck" Allen Henderson, 68, formerly of Gypsum, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 in Phoenix, AZ. 
Preceeded in death by: parents, Melvin W. and Elfretta (Spencer) Henderson; sisters, Myra McNabb, Patricia McCurdy and Diana Fowler.  Survivors: brother, Melvin "Mac" L. Henderson of Wichita, KS, sisters, Bette Tillett of McPherson, Karen Gaylor and Jo Mae Shaw of Lindsborg; daughter, Rebecca (Glenn) Antoune; granddaughter, Emily of Lawrenceville, GA; step-daughters, Rhonda Miller of Ashville, NC, Ramona Armstrong of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons, Jermiah, Joshua, Justin and Shawn; children's mother, Carla (Sheets) Henderson.
"Buck" was born May 2, 1940, in Atkinson, Neb.  He graduated from Gypsum High School in 1958.  He worked for Frisbie Construction.  He attended Hutchinson Junior College. 
He enjoyed basketball, cars and got his pilots license to fly.  He worked as a union electrician most of his life in Arizona at a nuclear plant, wiring houses for celebrities, and commuting to California during the earthquake years.  He also was an avid, enthusiatic ham radio operator using the call handle of KAZIOG.  There will be a Web site set up at www.KA7IOG.com to commerate his life, stories, and memories. 
His family held a visitation at his former home in Phoenix.  There will also be a celebration of his life during the week of Thanksgiving.  Kansas relatives will have details later.  Memorials can be given to Muscular Dystrophy, American Heart or American Cancer Associations.
