HUTCHINSON- Irene Musselwhite, 86, died March 28, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Herman Bill and Minnie Owen Snider.
She graduated from Blackwell High School in 1940 and attended nurses training at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
On March 19, 1943, she married Bernard Albert Musselwhite in Wichita. He died June 4, 1994.
She was a homemaker and worked part-time at the former Elizabeth’s Hospital in Hutchinson.
She volunteered at the Hutchinson Hospital and Hospice of Reno County, RSVP of Reno County. She was an ambassador at Overland Park Place, a member of the traveling choir at the Overland Park Place and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Lyle Rishel Post 68.
She attended Northminster Presbyterian Church and the Esther Circle in Hutchinson. She also attended the Overland Park Presbyterian Church.
A longtime Hutchinson resident, she moved to Overland Park in 2001.
Survivors include: a son, Bernard A. Musselwhite and wife, Glennice, of McPherson; daughter Patricia I. Schroeder of Prairie Village; grandchilden Monica Spencer of Galva, Tad Musselwhite and wife, Tracy, of Salina, Tricia Young and husband, Christopher, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Tasha Schroeder and partner Angela Eichler of Stevens Point, Wisc.; great-grandchildren Riley and Alexandria Nigh of Galva and Paige Musselwhite of Salina; a brother, Bob Snider of Texas, Lloyd Snider of Tulsa, Okla., Phillip Snider of Locus Grove, Okla.; sisters Mari O’Neill of Wichita, and Betty Smith of Blackwell, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Billy Snider.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Northminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Skip Johnson officiating.
Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Northminster Presbyterian Church or Overland Park Presbyterian Church.
