The McPherson Senior American Legion baseball team will enter the upcoming Salina Grand Slam Tournament riding a wave of momentum.
The Seniors went 3-1 on the road the last three days, sweeping El Dorado on Monday and coming home with a split Saturday at Great Bend.
The Seniors are now 11-12 after starting the year 0-4. They play at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday in the opening round at Salina.
McPherson 8, El Dorado 7 -- Down 3-1 early, the Seniors rallied with three runs in the third and four in the fourth to pull out the win.
Logan Rierson, Scott Paramore, Ben Clary and Tyson Anderson all had two hits for McPherson. Casey Miller had a triple, while Clary,  Anderson and Brett Williams all had doubles. Paramore, Clary and Taylor Myers all had two RBI. L.A. Hoefer picked up the win, with Myers earning a save, allowing just one run in three innings.
McPherson 13, El Dorado 4 -- After a 1-all tie through four innings, Post 24 broke it open with five runs in the fifth and seven more in the sixth.
Paramore hit a key two-run double in the fifth and Clary later added a triple. Bret Middleton capped the sweep with a home run and he drove in three runs.
Paramore, Myers, Miller, Middleton and Bryant Baldwin all had two hits. Paramore, Myers and Miller drove in three runs.
Codey Johnson evened his record at 4-4 and received a sparkling defensive play from Middleton, who went headfirst over the fence in the third inning for a catch.
McPherson 3, Great Bend 1 --  Paramore continued his terrific pitching, limiting the Chiefs to a run on six hits.
It was Paramore’s fourth complete game in six starts. He buckled the Great Bend hitters time and again, fanning nine and walking three.
It was a 1-1 game until the fifth when McPherson pushed across a run and then added another in the sixth.
Paramore helped his own cause with two RBI and a double.  Rierson hit a triple and double, while Clary and Joey Dean had two hits apiece.
Great Bend 9, McPherson 1 -- One inning totally turned this game in Great Bend’s favor, as the Chiefs scored nine runs in the third, aided by four McPherson errors.
Clary and Paramore had two hits apiece, and  Myers had a double.
Johnson took the loss.
