McPherson County commissioners gave Janet Cagle, director of McPherson and Harvey counties Community Corrections, approval to apply for the Juvenile Justice Prevention and Graduated Sanctions Programs grant program during Tuesday’s County Commission meeting.
If received, the grant money will total $511,090 with $416,004 for sanctions programs and $95,086 for prevention programs.
Cagle said funding within the grant was reduced for preventive programs like Big Brothers, Big Sisters in McPherson and Harvey Counties and Communities in Schools in Harvey County. She said juvenile justice program funding was also reduced by about $1.7 million.
