Special to The Sentinel

McPherson College right-hander Kelsey Dutton was honored Tuesday as the KCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week in a voting by a panel of sports information directors from the conference.
It is Dutton’s first weekly honor, while Ottawa’s Lindsey Tuter was named position player of the week.
Dutton earned the honor after finishing the week with a 3.50 ERA in two starts last week, including a win against York College to improve her record to 4-2 on the season.
Dutton opened the week with a matchup against Graceland University. Despite taking the loss, the freshman from Limon, Colo. tied a career high with 11 strikeouts, while walking four in seven innings of work.
In her other start of the week, Dutton pitched another complete game to pick up a much-needed win against York College, 8-2. Against the Panthers, she threw seven innings, allowing just two runs on six hits, while striking out five and walking two.
On the year, Dutton leads the Bulldogs with a 3.14 ERA in 35.2 innings with 43 strikeouts.
