The McPherson office of Hospice Care of Kansas will conduct training for anyone 18 years and older who is interested in becoming a Hospice volunteer. The training will be held on Monday, April 5, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hospice Care of Kansas office at 1354 N. Main.
Hospice Care of Kansas volunteers provide an invaluable service to hospice patients and their families. They can provide breaks to caregivers either on an ongoing or intermittent basis; visit with patients and their families to provide support through a very emotional time; do grocery shopping or run errands for families or patients.  Volunteers can also visit with patients who live in care facilities, listening to them share their stories, playing cards, and checkers, helping to write letters or any number of tasks. Other volunteers choose to assist staff in the office or with special community events.
The opportunities available to serve your community are almost limitless.
If you would like to become a Hospice Care of Kansas volunteer, plan to attend the April 5th training. The registration deadline is April 1. Please call Tosha Smith, volunteer coordinator, at 245-0891 to reserve your space.
