Special to The Sentinel

McPherson College Athletic Director Jenni Richardson recently announced the hiring of Curtis Evey as the head coach of the new baseball program. Evey, a former member of the United States Air Force, is the first head baseball coach in the history of McPherson College.
“We are excited to have coach Evey join the athletic staff here at McPherson College,” Richardson said. “He brings a variety of baseball playing and coaching experience as well as a number of recruiting contacts to the program. We look forward to Coach Evey building a winning tradition for McPherson College baseball.”
Evey, most recently a national account manager for REMA Tip Top, has extensive experience managing and marketing in both the professional and athletics world. He has spent the last nine seasons in various levels of coaching, while working in a professional setting.
Evey possesses numerous contacts around the nation, which he hopes to tap to help build a program that will compete in a limited capacity next season. At this point, Evey has two commitments to the program.
McPherson College will join Kansas Wesleyan University, Tabor College, Bethany College, Ottawa University, Sterling College, Friends University and the University of Saint Mary in KCAC competition in 2011 before adding a full schedule in 2012.
