Smoky Valley’s girls finished one point out of second place Friday in the Abilene Invitational Track and Field Meet.

The Vikings scored 71 points to finish one point behind Wamego and one point ahead of El Dorado. Andale was the runaway winner with 183 points.

The Vikings received gold-medal days from Kristin Baker in the long jump and Lori Dauer in the shot put. Baker also took second in the triple jump and Dauer was runner-up in the discus. Callie Weibert was second in the 1,600 and the Vikes also had a second in the 4 x 100 relay.

The Viking boys were fourth with 59 points, trailing Andale (140), Royal Valley (112) and Wamego (96).

The Vikes’ Dylan Soukup won the 110 hurdles, while Nick Deterding had a second in the high jump and Dixon Olson was third in the javelin.
