It finally all came together for the McPherson High soccer team Tuesday.
After a three-game  stretch where the team struggled to score, the Bullpups unleashed an unrelenting offense for a 4-0 victory over Goddard, earning the Bullpups no worse than a tie for the AVCTL D-II title.
It was a night for brothers, as Parker Hambley and Sawyer Hambley scored for the Bullpups, as did Nick Torres and Xzavier Torres.
“I was extremely proud of the way the boys played tonight,” MHS coach Chris Adrian said. “We have been hitting everything but the back of the net for the past few games and we knew that getting out of that slump was going to take a great team effort, which is exactly what we got tonight. Four goals from four different players is what the doctor ordered.”
Goddard had very few chances against the stout MHS defense.
“The defense also played well tonight limiting Goddard to only a few shots,” Adrian said.
MHS, 8-6-1, is now 4-0 in Division II and can complete the divisional run at home Thursday when it hosts Andover for Senior Night. The action starts at 5 p.m.
The MHS players will be wearing pink shoelaces and fans are asked to wear pink for Cancer Awareness Month.
The JVs also won, 3-0. Adrian Garcia, Cole Krizek and Ethan Nadeau scored goals. Garcia and Krizek had assists.
