Special to The Sentinel

For three weeks in September and October, Central Christian College’s men’s and women’s tennis teams helped facilitate a tennis clinic for homeschooled youth in the McPherson area.
This was the fourth year of the clinic, run by former CCC tennis coach Shana Leck.
The current CCC tennis teams served as instructors under coach Leck’s leadership. The clinic met twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Many of the kids in the clinic are returners and they’ve been coming for several years. Because of the high number of returning campers, the focus of the camp shifted from basic fundamentals to being able to rally with a partner.
The clinic was a part of CCC’s ongoing commitment to the NAIA’s Champions of Character program.
In each of the six sessions the camp would pause for a break and a devotion time. The theme of the devotion time was a different character quality found in God’s word. The devotions were led by CCC coach Jeremy Nelson and various team members.
Numbers fluctuated between 20 and 25 campers on average.
