McPherson Police
Officers responded to the 100 block of E. Northview at 12:51 a.m. Wednesday reference a possible suicidal subject. A 27-year-old male was transported to Memorial Hospital. An information report was filed regarding a self-commital.

Officers filed a report at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday reference criminal damage to property and criminal trespass in the 900 block of N. Maple. Evicted residents entered a house to retrieve personal property. No estimate of the damage was available. Charges are pending.

An officer filed a report at 12:32 p.m. Thursday reference a theft from a vehicle that occurred in the 900 block of N. Wheeler between 11 p.m. Aug. 15 and 6 p.m. Aug. 16. A pool cue and sunglasses were taken. Loss was reported at $340.

At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, officers filed a report regarding a 31-year-old male taken into protective custody in the 500 block of N. Eby. The subject was transported to Memorial Hospital for evaluation and later transferred to Larned State Hospital.

Sheriff
A deputy responded to a state-reportable, non-injury, vehicle-vs.-deer accident on I-135, milepost 67, at 4:14 a.m. Wednesday. The driver was David W. Smith, Poteau, Okla.

A deputy filed a report at 6:57 p.m. Wednesday reference a vehicle burglary and theft that occurred in the 1100 block of E. Hoch, Moundridge, between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday. A laptop computer, valued at $400, was taken.

At 10:51 a.m. Thursday, a deputy filed a report reference arson of a vehicle parked overnight in the 1900 block of Frontier Road. The vehicle was a total loss. Value was reported as $6,565. The investigation is continuing.

At 5:28 p.m. Thursday, deputies, McPherson EMS personnel and McPherson firefighters responded to a state-reportable, injury accident at US-56 and Limestone Road. The drivers were Brandi J. Opat, Galva, and Joshua Stiebens, McPherson. A passenger in the Stiebens’ vehicle was transported to Memorial Hospital, McPherson, for treatment of possible injuries. Opat was cited for failure to yield the right of way and not wearing a seatbelt.
