Ronald G. Embers, 71, of Hutchinson, died Nov. 17, 2010 at his home. 
He was born Jan. 22, 1939 in McPherson, the son of Raymond and Virginia Ammerman Embers. He was a former McPherson resident, moving to Hutchinson in 1972. He was a 1957 graduate of McPherson High School and had received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from McPherson College.
He had retired as a Medical Technologist for the Bob Dole V.A. Hospital in Wichita, where he had worked for 10 years, and prior to that he had served as Chief Technician for the Hutchinson Clinic for 13 years. 
He was a United States Navy Veteran. He had served on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Hutchinson Public Library and the McPherson Scottish Society as well as serving as Vendor Chairman for the McPherson Scottish Festival for over 10 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his several trips to England.
On Nov. 3, 1961 he married Carolyn Martin in Canton, she survives. Other survivors include his son; Ron Embers and wife Susan, Hutchinson, two grandchildren; Eric and Cory Embers, Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Rounds.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Monday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tim Carey presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family to receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory. Cremation has taken place. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Central Christian School or the Hutchinson Public Library in care of the funeral home.
