City workers will have a little more to spend this holiday season, as the city commission voted to give a $100 bonus to full-time workers and $40 to part-time workers during Monday’s commission meeting. The bonuses will be issued with December checks.
Mayor Tom Brown said the bonus probably wouldn’t have been possible if city employees hadn’t kept themselves in such good health, leading to the city issuing an insurance premium moratorium for December. Members of the commission added that they wanted to reward city workers for keeping costs down during the year.
In other business:
*Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Anne Hassler received permission to place brochures along Interstate 70 and in Wichita advertising the city.
*The commission voted to purchase a new copier for the city’s administration department for $7,9775 from Oce Wichita. Usually, the city prefers to keep its business local. However, commissioners noted that because of the economy, and because Oce presented the cheapest bid, this was the best bargain for the city.
