The final change order for McPherson’s new wastewater treatment plant came in Monday, putting the entire project nearly $800,000 under budget. The final price tag for the plant comes to $11,127,898. The project was originally budgeted at $12 million.
The McPherson Fire Department took possession of eight Level B hazmat suits from McPherson EMS, who were unable to use them because the suits require Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) certification - something firefighters have but EMS personnel usually do not. The suits were purchased with a grant from the Department of Homeland Security, and the fire department agreed to adhere to the original conditions of the grant, which deals with the suits proper upkeep.
In other business, McPherson city offices will be closed Dec. 23, from 12 to 1 p.m. for the city’s annual Christmas party. Mayor Tom Brown also passed along his best wishes to the city over the upcoming holiday.
“I’d like to wish the people of McPherson a blessed and merry Christmas,” Brown said.
