McPherson’s City Commission recently approved several changes to contracts dealing with area recreation, including setting 2011 rates for the Turkey Creek Golf Course.
Annual member fees at the golf course will remain the same as 2010, with a full membership for four family members costing  $1,000, three family members costing $950, a couple costing $850, a senior couple costing $750, a single senior membership costing $650 and a regular single membership costing $750. Student memberships will cost $225.
However, the number of buckets of driving range balls has been reduced to eight, and members will only be allowed three guest passes.
In the city’s agreement with the Recreation Commission, the McPherson Water Park will close on Aug. 15 in 2011, coinciding with the first day of school. Furthermore the city raised the senior rate from $2 to $3, and moved the ages eight to 17 rate from $2 to $3 as well.
The city also agreed to assume responsibility for installing and removing diving boards, as well as ensuring that the boilers are inspected, and turned on and off. Last year, a problem with the boiler being left on led to several costly repairs. The Recreation Commission will, in turn, monitor temperatures when the boilers are active.
