McPherson County commissioners approved replacing a low-water crossing at 8th Avenue and Quivera Road during Tuesday’s meeting. The cost of the replacement will be $16,050, and there is no date on when the project will be completed. Commissioners also approved the purchase of several concrete pipes for ongoing roadwork on 4th Avenue.
Commissioners approved the purchase of a new laptop for the public works department for $1,100. The purchase was justified because none of the department’s current laptop computers can run new software from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
In other business, commissioners agreed to allocate $5,311 to community corrections for new equipment and allowed County Health Department Director Fern Hess to write off $2,799 in bad debts to the health department from individuals unable to settle bills.
