Bethany College’s men clinched a first-round home playoff game Thursday with a come-from-behind 86-73 victory over Southwestern.
The Swedes improved to 10-7 in the KCAC, a game back of McPherson College and Tabor, the team they host Saturday night in the regular-season finale. The worst the Swedes can finish is fourth, but they could finish as high as a tie for second.
Bethany trailed 33-32 at the half, but dominated the second half  by putting up 54 points.
Trey Beachum fired in 28 points to lead the Swedes, now 12-15 overall. Chris Dean scored 16, while Haydon Parks had a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Clayton Goggins also scored 11 points.
SOUTHWESTERN WOMEN 64, BETHANY 43 -- The Swedes are now tied for eighth with McPherson College in the KCAC standings, but still hold the tiebreaker. The only way Bethany doesn’t make the playoffs is if it loses Saturday at home against Tabor and the Bulldogs would upset KCAC co-leader Sterling on its home court.
Cathy Wade scored 10 points to lead the Swedes, now 4-13 in the KCAC and 6-21 on the year.
