McPherson High’s bowlers delivered when it mattered most.
The Bullpup boys qualified their entire team for state, while the girls advanced three individuals during Thursday’s regional.
The boys took second as a team and had three finish in the Top 10 -- Vince Peters (5th with 696), Willy Reed (8th with 643) and Matt Shriver (9th in 640).
Other scores were Levi Holgerson (588), Nathan Snyder (584) and Lucas Wann (494).
Great Bend had 2,666, while MHS was second with 2,630, with Newton third with 2,561.
Bullpup girls qualifying were Mayce Nightingale (3rd, 604), Crystal Nutter (10th, 545) and Nichole Yianakopulos (At-large, 528). Other scores were Cassie Golden (520), Erica Saunders (395) and Emily Phillips (334).
MHS was third as a team with 2,197, trailing Great Bend (2,371) and Buhler (2,351).
“We performed well on both the girls and boys, bowling the best they have all year,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “They understand they still have business to take care so they can perform well at Northrock Lanes (site of the state tourney) next Thursday.”
