Gladys Ellen Withouse Golden died peacefully Feb. 26, 2011, in Green Valley, Ariz. She was born Oct. 2, 1931, near Belle, Mo., to Alfred H. and Dora Glover Withouse. She graduated from Bland High School and began her long career in bookkeeping at the age of 16.  
On Dec 22, 1951, she married Roscoe E. Golden in Belle, Mo. Their railroading years took them to Leeton, Mo., Stover, Mo., Liberal and to McPherson in 1965. They retired to Green Valley in 1998 to be near family. Gladys was a past matron of the Eastern Star.
Preceded in death by her parents and five brothers (Austin, Oliver, Gussie, Larry, and Joe). She is survived by her husband, Roscoe; one daughter, Debra G. Dielman; and one son, James E. Golden, all of Green Valley; grandsons Christopher J. Dielman, Ellensburg, Wash., and Steven Dielman (Sheila); one great-grandson, Max Dielman, all of Ft Collins, Colo.; one brother, Clyde (Judy) Withouse, Bland, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.  
Visitation will be held at Sassmann's Funeral Home in Bland on Wednesday, March 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Funeral services will be held at Sassmann's in Bland at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, followed by burial at Liberty Cemetery, Belle, Mo. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
