McPherson College’s softball team is off to a 2-5 start, including a 1-4 performance this past weekend in the February Fiesta at Chickasha, Okla.
Here’s a tourney summary:
University of Science and Arts 11, Mac 2 -- USAO scored seven runs in the first and three in the seventh. Payton Toepfer had two hits for Mac. Andrea Falk took the loss.
Mac 9, Avila 1 -- Katie Logan threw a nifty three-hitter and received plenty of offensive help, including a homer and three RBI from Hailey Kinney. Logan helped her own cause with three hits and three RBI, while Kinney, Sadie Green and Jamie Gilbert all had two hits.
Lubbock Christian 8, Mac 0 -- The Bulldogs were held to three hits, one each by Green, Kinney and Toepfer. Falk took the loss.
University of Science and Arts 10, Mac 9 -- The Bulldogs, down 10-0 after two innings, scratched and clawed nearly all the way back, scoring six times in the third and three times in the sixth. Ariel McGee had three hits for Mac, while Jamie Gilbert and Morgan Zenefski added two. Logan took the loss.
Texas Wesleyan 5, Mac 1 -- Logan drove in Toepfer with the only Mac run, which came in the first to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Kelsey Dutton took the loss.
Mac is scheduled to play Central Christian College Thursday.
