Vera Joy Krehbiel was born in McPherson County on March 2, 1936, to her parents, Gideon and Lena Krehbiel.
Vera was a long-time resident of the McPherson community. After finishing her schooling at Bethel College, North Newton, she got a job teaching home economics in York, Neb., public school.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Jane Krehbiel who was on leave from her mission work in Gulfport, Miss.
Vera was a survivor in that severe accident in 1956 and recovered enough to continue on with her life.
On Sept. 3, 1961, Vera married Marvin Stuhr. They enjoyed 21 years together before the Lord called Marvin home on Sept. 14, 1982.
Also preceding in her death were her father Gideon in 1978 and her mother Lena in 1988 and one brother, Arnold G. Krehbiel on Feb. 16, 1994.
On April 24, 2004, while on their fifth wedding anniversary, once again death struck Vera’s family and their only biological son, Michael Ray Stuhr was called home to be with the Lord. Vera is survived by Michael’s widow, Loree Townsley Stuhr and children Mickie Stuhr and Julie Stuhr.
Vera is also survived by her step-son Rick Stuhr and family of Houston, Texas.
Vera loved to play the piano and the oregon. But a big part of her was helping others, enjoying her grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Vera was a very loving mother, sister and mate.
She is survived by her present husband of 20 years, Wheeler French. She is also survived by her three sisters, Helen Kasper, Rozella Krehbiel, Mary Kinnamon and husband, Terry.
And many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-great nieces and nephews.
Vera will be greatly missed.
