McPherson College men’s basketball coach Tim Swartzendruber has announced that Mason Turner of Scott City and Scott Community High School has signed a letter of intent to join the Bulldog basketball program for the 2011-2012 season.

“Mason comes from a great high school program,” Swartzendruber said. “He is an outstanding student-athlete and has great work ethic. We believe he will be a solid player in our program.”

Turner is a 6-3 guard who was a member of the Beavers’ 2011 3A state championship team. He earned three varsity letters during his tenure at SCHS under the direction of head coach Glenn O’Neil, a Mac College alum.

Turner is the son of Jim Turner and Richelle Sims and plans to major in sociology with an emphasis in criminal justice. His sister, Tecie Turner, is a former member of the McPherson College women’s basketball program.
