McPherson High’s volleyball team earned a share of the AVCTL Division II title Tuesday by knocking off Goddard Eisenhower during a triangular meet.

The Bullpups were a 25-14, 25-18 winner over Eisenhower, which gave them an 11-1 Division II record. MHS shared the title with Valley Center, as the teams split their league matches.

MHS also defeated Garden City in straight sets, 25-18, 25-15.

The Bullpups had to play the matches without standout blocker and recent McPherson College signee Sophie Simon, but MHS coach Christy Doile said she hopes to have her back this weekend when the Bullpups compete in the substate tournament at Concordia.

Doile said the team played relatively well, as it improved to 37-2 on the year, now just two victories shy of the school record, which is 39 in 2004.

The Bullpup JVs wrapped up their season by splitting matches, losing to Garden City (27-29, 25-17, 16-25) and defeating Eisenhower (25-9, 25-22). MHS finished with a sparkling 33-5 record under coach Diane Marshall.
