Explanation In years past, the special alcohol fund sat unused, collecting tax revenue in the neighborhood of $8,150 each year without allocating it in any specific direction. In recent years, however, area substance abuse agencies began requesting access to the funds. Today, Omega House and Prairie View of McPherson and Valley Hope of Moundridge each receive an equal share of the fund’s balance. In 2011, each group received $6,000, but due to the fund’s dwindling bottom line, each will receive only $2,800 in 2012. In years after 2012, each group will be allocated 33 percent of the fund’s resources.
