Leona Irene (Lee) Nuessen, 80, of McPherson, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 while in the company of family members  at Cedars House in McPherson.


Leona Irene (Lee) Nuessen, 80, of McPherson, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 while in the company of family members  at Cedars House in McPherson.
Leona was born in Marion on May 27, 1931, the daughter of the late George L. and Florence I. (Olson) Perry.
She attended schools in Missouri.
She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Wichita.
She worked as a laboratory technician at Roche Biomedical Laboratory in Wichita.
Leona was a member of an EHU, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and served as a Girl Scout leader.
She was married to Leonard Michael Nuessen on Aug. 5, 1961 in Miami, Oklahoma, and he resides in McPherson; other survivors include her daughter, Judy Macy and husband, Mike, of McPherson; two sons, Leon Nuessen and wife, Carolyn, of Gravette, Ark., and Harold Nuessen and wife, Carol, of Gatesville, Texas; two brothers, Wayne Perry of Franklin, Texas, and Floyd Perry of Wichita; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Stan, a daughter, Annette, a grandson, Curtis, and a great grandson, Blake.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at Glidden-Ediger Chapel in McPherson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in McPherson with Fr. Dwight Birket officiating.
Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Wichita.
