Michael Lyons was the one semblance of calm in what was a helter-skelter of a basketball game between Central Christian College and Crowley’s Ridge College here Monday night.

Playing at a supersonic pace, Lyons delivered 11 assists and committed just one turnover in 24 minutes, as the Tigers eased past the Pioneers, 86-63.

“I thought Mike played real well  and pushed the basketball,” CCC coach Tony Romero said. “He’s starting to get more comfortable. We knew he had a bundle of talent coming into the season and he’s slowly coming into his own. He played well tonight, and at Hillsdale and Hays.”

The Tigers were never in any serious trouble, but Romero still termed the game “sloppy,” but was more disappointed with his defense than his offense.

“We’re just not playing the way we’re capable of on the defensive end. We have to get better,” Romero said.

Randall Conley led CCC with 17 points, one more than Kaelon Gary. Chris Jones had a double-double with 14 points and the like number of rebounds, while Konner Bergstrom and Adrian Sims scored 10 apiece.

Quintin Fields, a lightning-quick guard, kept it from being a total blowout with 22 points to lead the Pioneers.

CCC, now 4-3, plays Monday at Bethel.
