McPherson College’s Bulldogs know how to close a deal.

Down 51-49 to Doane College with just over five minutes left in the game Friday night, the Bulldogs went on a 19-7 tear down the stretch for a 68-58 victory, their 10th straight to open the season.

Five Bulldogs hit for double figures, led by Jordan Crawford with 16 points and he completed a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Also scoring in doubles were Aaron Frazier (13), Samson Shivers (13), Chris Crawford (11) and Kenny Berry (10).

Doane, which came into the game shooting 52 percent on the year, was held to 34 percent by the suffocating Bulldog defense.

Mac coach Tim Swartzendruber said while his starting five did a bulk of the scoring, his bench came up big, especially in the first half when the Bulldogs dug themselves out of a nine-point hole to lead 28-22 at recess.

The Bulldogs had little time to enjoy the win, as they turn around today and play Hastings College at 4:00, a team that took them down to the wire in a recent game at the Sport Center.
