The McPherson community gathered as one Thursday for the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Patrons began to gather at the McPherson Community Building about a half-hour before the doors opened and according to Verla Thomason of Community Thanksgiving Inc., more than 725 reservations were taken, and there also were numerous walk-ins that were accepted. Cooks prepared more than 340 pounds of turkey, and there was pie for everyone. Thomason added that the day would not have been possible if not for the 250 able volunteers who helped with the preparation of the meal and the serving. Thomason said this was one of the largest turnouts ever for the event, as the weather was nice, which allowed for young and old alike to get out and enjoy the day.
