Shannon Nakai and Andrew Wingert were married at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, in Patriot's Park, Greenville, Ill. Officiant was Rev. Doug Newton, senior pastor of the Greenville Free Methodist Church.
The bride's parents are Moto and Sheri Nakai of McPherson. The bride's grandparents are Leon and Ellen Winslow of Greenville, Ill. The groom's parents are Royce and Becky Wingert of Lititz, Pa. The groom's grandparents are Mary Light of Carlisle, Pa., and Gerald and Lucille Wingert of Mechanicsburg, Pa.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father and given away by her parents.
Shannon wore a white wedding gown with green shoes and carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses and a white parasol. The bridesmaids wore green dresses and carried white parasols.
The maid of honor was Amy Foor, friend of the bride, of Muscatine, Iowa. Bridesmaids were Meagan Gunn, friend of the bride, Nokomis, Ill.; Sara Wenger, friend of the bride, Topeka; Rachel Wilcox, friend of the bride, Olsburg; Casey Smedburg, friend of the bride, Oakland, Maine; Victoria Chandler, friend of the bride, Fort Mill, S.C.
The best man was Ben Kinsey, friend of the groom, Albion, Ill. The groomsmen were Jay Yousef, friend of the groom, St. Louis, Mo.; Ben Wingert, brother of the groom, Lititz, Pa.; David Wingert, brother of the groom, of Lititz, Pa.; Steve Deeds, friend of the groom, of Rockford, Ill; Brian Stratton, friend of the groom, of Onalaska, Wis.
Blythe Spead was the glower girl and her brothers John and Mark Spead were the ring bearers. They are cousins of the groom, from Lititz, Pa.
Wedding director and reception attendant was Cathi Grandfield, aunt of the bride, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Program and reception attendant was Anne Gemmer, cousin of the bride, of McPherson. Guest book and reception attendant was Ruth Huston, cousin of the bride, of Greenville, Ill.
Musicians were Dr. Tom Stampfli, friend of the groom, Greenville, Ill., Shaina Williams, friend of the bride and groom, Medford, N.J. and Ben Kinsey, best man.
The reception was held at the Main Pavilion in Patriot's Park following the ceremony. The couple's first dance was to the original theme of Monk. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by Royce and Becky Wingert, the groom's parents, at Bretz Wildlife Lodge on Saturday, June 9.
Bridal showers were hosted by the Free Methodist Church in McPherson on Sunday, May 6, by Amy Foor, maid of honor, in the Winslow home at Greenville, Ill., on Saturday, May 12.
The bride is a 2012 graduate of Greenville College, Ill., and is employed as a lifeguard by the YMCA. The groom is a 2011 graduate of Greenville College, Ill, and is employed by the YMCA Y-Kids program.
The couple has returned to McPherson from their honeymoon in Portland, Ore. In September they will move to Turkey to teach English through the Fulbright Scholar Program for 10 months.
