Canton-Galva’s Babe Ruth baseball team won and lost in games Monday night with Hillsboro.
C-G won a terrific pitching duel in the opener, 1-0. Tanner Klingensmith authored a two-hit shutout, fanned four and did not allow a walk. Connor Farnham walked, stole second, went to third on a groundout and scored the only run on an error on a ball hit by Ethan Loyd.
The second game was just the opposite, with Hillsboro emerging with an 18-17 victory. C-G was up 10-2 when Farnham was struck by a line drive while pitching and had to leave the game.
Offensive leaders were Ryan Grant (single, double, four runs), Klingensmith (single, double, three RBIs, three runs), Jake Struber (two hits, two RBIs, two runs), Nick Bray (two RBIs), Chris Miller (two runs) and Farnham (two RBIs, two runs).
C-G is at Peabody Friday.
