Scouts from McPherson Troop 133 recently were invited to tour the NCRA refinery. The troop members have been working on their Engineering Merit Badge with Brent Milleson, an NCRA engineer, and this was an  opportunity to see refining engineering first hand.
Vince Bengston of the NCRA Human Resources Department and Troy Wilson, NCRA E and I Technician, led the troop through the different process units of the refinery, a trip through the refinery lab and finished with a tour of the new NCRA Safety and Training Building.
Scouts were able to see how the skills they have learned in First Aid and Safety are applied in the real world by examining how they are integrated into the refinery. Scouts also learned about the many career possibilities that exist with the refining business and how their education can help them achieve their goals.
The Scout Troop would like to thank Jim Loving, Hope VonBorkenhagen, Vince Bengston and Troy Wilson for making this opportunity available to the scouts.
Scouts in attendance were Kyle Taliaferro, Nolan Milleson, Taylor Kynaston, Alex Grennan, Michael McKinney, Eric O'Reilley, Daniel Wiens, Nolan Milleson, Matthew Fay, Brian Hayden, Ben Houston, Justin Duvall, Daniel Hayden, Noah Jirgens, Tommy Loving, Ryan Fulcher, and Daric Souder along with adult leaders David O'Reilley, James Seeley, Paul Taliaferro, Bryan Kynaston, John Helmer, Brent Milleson, Jim Loving and Matt Jirgens.
