  • Monroe Lloyd "Monty" Boesker, 79, of McPherson, passed away at 8:50 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, while in the company of family members at McPherson Hospital, McPherson.
    Monty was born on April 4, 1933, in Canton, the son of Edward Oscar and Emma Caroline (Buehler) Boesker.
    Monty attended the Canton grade school and graduated from Canton High School, Canton.
    Monty served in the U.S. Army as a SP3T. He joined on Dec. 15, 1953, at Kansas City, Mo., and on Dec. 14, 1955 was released from active duty and transferred to the Army Reserves until Dec. 14, 1961 when he was honorably discharged after serving his country.
    Through the years, Monty worked on the farm until 1963 when the couple moved to McPherson, and he began his truck driving career. He drove for Thompson Transport, Groendyke Trucking, Farmland Industries, Schilli Transport, all of the McPherson area.
    Monty was a member of the American Legion Post 24 and the Kansas Yacht Club.
    Margaret Joann "Jody" Hall was united in marriage to Monroe Lloyd "Monty" Boesker on Oct. 25, 1961, at Canton Lutheran Church, Canton.
    Surviving family members include his loving and devoted wife of almost 51 years, Jody Boesker of the home, McPherson; his daughters, Betty Ensminger and Kay Dobbins both of McPherson; his brother Leland Boesker and his wife Juanita of Canton; his six grandchildren, Teresa Richardson and her husband Ken of Overland Park, Troy Ensminger of Manilla, Philippines, Tanya Nelson and her husband Brian of Hutchinson, Todd Ensminger of Hutchinson, Barb Tillett and her husband Gerry of McPherson, and Terry Luna and his wife Pam of Overland Park; his eight great-grandchildren, Sterling and Jax Richardson, Deegan Oneal, Bryar Higgins, Ella Ensminger, Tiffany Turner and her husband Billy, Trevor and Tara Tillett; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
    Monty was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Milfred Boesker.
    Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, with Rev. Connie Martin officiating. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 and American Legion Post 24 will provide military honors.
