Duane David Goering, 63, of McPherson, passed away at 12:24 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, while in the company of family members at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
Duane was born on Nov. 6, 1948, in Kingman, the son of David H. and Opal Ethel (Flickner) Goering.
Duane attended the Kingman country schools and graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, in 1966. He attended Hutchinson Community College.
Duane was a member of First Mennonite Church, McPherson, and was attending church with his family at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Duane honorably served in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War.
Through the years Duane worked for U.S.D. 418 and was owner and operator of Happy Housekeepers along with his wife, Connie.
Duane Goering was united in marriage to Connie D. Schuckman on May 7, 2005, at the First Mennonite Church, McPherson.
Surviving family members include his loving and devoted wife, Connie D. Goering of McPherson; his daughters, Frances Elizabeth Goering and Gracie Jeanine Goering both of the home, McPherson; his sister Diane Houchen and her husband Chuck of McPherson; his nephew Chad Houchen and his wife Jennifer of McPherson, and his niece Jody Houchen and fiancé Michael Unruh of McPherson; other relatives and a host of friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, David and Opal Goering.
The funeral service will be at at 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, at First Mennonite Church, McPherson, with Rev. Kathy Neufeld Dunn officiating.
Inurnment of cremated remains will be in the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.
