Kelly Young, 70, of Kearney, Neb., died Friday, September 21, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney with Pastor Michelle Reed officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Roger Gillming officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Kelly was born November 18, 1941, in Ravenna to Harold and Myrtle (Hansen) Young. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1959. He earned his B.S. Degree from Kearney State College in 1963. He married Lee Ann Nansel in Ravenna on June 2, 1963. He is a retired vocal music teacher. Kelly and Leaa Ann moved to McPherson, Kansas in 1999, where he worked at the radio station and also sold shoes. In 2001, Kelly wanted to move back to Kearney. Kelly loved music and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play in sports. In fact, his last outing was to watch his grandson Eli play a football game. He also liked playing cards and games at family reunions. His family was very important to him and was always excited to have them visit. Kelly was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and Kearney Elks Lodge #984. Surviving relatives include, wife Lee Ann Young of Kearney, Neb.; sons, Chris and Kricket Young of Hutchinson and Eric and Ann Young of Lexington, Neb.; brothers, Roger and Deb Young of Ravenna, Neb., and Ron Young of West Union S.C.; brother-in-law, Larry and Bert Nansel of Kearney, Neb., and Lane and Barb Nansel of Kearney, Neb.; sister-in-law, Linda Lawrence of Callaway, Neb.; grandchildren, Cole, Easton, Kennedy, Eli, Carter, and Ella Young; 15 nieces and nephews; and many friends Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one niece, one brother-in-law, and one sister-in-law.
