Mr. and Mrs. Trent and Shanda Swanson
Shanda (Parks) and Trent Swanson, both of McPherson, were married Aug. 25, 2012, at First Christian Church in McPherson.
Lynn Scott officiated the double-ring ceremony. Shanda was escorted by Rhian Parks, daughter of the bride.
The maid of honor was Devon Parks, Manhattan, sister of the bride. Matron of honor was Kesley Carlson, Manhattan, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Elle Williams, Manhattan, sister of the bride; Tiffany Parker, Manhattan; Kena Laha, McPherson; and Magan Klassen, McPherson.
Best man was Tucker Swanson, Kansas City, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Travis Swanson, College Station, Texas, brother of the groom; Sean Moore, Pittsburg; Evan Whitehill, McPherson; Matt Carlson, Manhattan; and Justin Whiteman, Marion.
Ushers were Zach Sawatzky, McPherson, brother of the groom; Rodney Nieman, McPherson; Byron Shaw, McPherson; and Brad Schartz, Overland Park.
Taper lighters were Corbin Blomberg, McPherson; and Morgan Sawatzky, McPherson, sister of the groom. Flower girl was Layla Parker, Manhattan; and Kimber Schumacher, McPherson. Programs were given by Brianna Bradley, sister of the bride; Kassidy Schumacher; Jill Fehr, cousin of the groom; and Abbi Unruh. Musicians were Cyril and Lauren Russell.
A reception was held at Econolodge. Gift table attendant was Lyndsey Ryan of Park City. Guest book attendant was Jessie Schumacher of McPherson. A rehearsal dinner was held at McPherson Opera House, hosted by the groom's parents.
Following a wedding trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple is at home in McPherson.
Shanda is the daughter of Tim Parks of Parachute, Colo., and Danny and Wanda Williams of McPherson. She is a graduate of McPherson High School, received a bachelor's degree at Wichita State University, and a master's degree at the University of St. Mary Leavenworth. She is employed as an English teacher at USD 308 in Hutchinson.
Trent is the son of Danny and Serena Vance, and Scott and Barb Swanson, all of McPherson. He is a graduate of McPherson High School and is employed as a foreman at Piping Technology.
