Fred and Karen Spoon of McPherson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 6 with a family gathering at their home.
Fred and the former Karen Thurstin were married Oct. 6, 1962, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson.
Fred served in the Kansas National Guard. He previously worked for the McPherson Street and Fire Department and retired from Johns-Manville after 26 years. He currently works part-time for McPherson County Public Works.
Karen worked for Morris and Son Clothing for 17 years and retired from Raleigh’s Drug and Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy after 28 years.
The couple manage a cow-calf operation.
Their children are: Cheryl and Jerry Stagner of Little River, and Dana Spoon of McPherson. Their grandchildren are Heather Stagner, Megan Stagner, Justin Walker and Jordan Walker, and they have a great-grandson, Elijah Stagner.
