Lane bowls his first 300 game
- Mark Lane rolls a 300 at Starlite Lanes.
Mark Lane knows there’s some luck involved in bowling a 300 game.
After 11 straight strikes in his first game Monday night in the Men’s Night Out League at Starlite Lanes, Lane threw what probably was his worst ball of the game when it mattered most.
But somehow, Lane said he was able to make all the pins fall down for his first-ever 300 game.
“I buried the first 11, but I was pretty lucky on the last one,” Lane said. “I got it out there far enough (to strike).”
It was the fifth 300 game at Starlite this year, following Jeff Bartholomew, Lane Peterson, Dean Brungardt and Skip Wilson.
Lane, who carries a 188 average for the Online Trading Academy team, has made runs at 300 in the past, but never got past 279, which he has achieved three times.
“I kind of had my doubts (about ever bowling a 300),” he said.
Lane, who is employed at Hospira, was trying not to watch the board early in the game, but realized he was perfect going into the 10th.
“I was pretty nervous (from the 10th on),” he said. “It got pretty quiet at the end.”
Lane finished with 643.
