McPherson High's volleyball team falls to No. 4

A loss to a ranked Class 6A team was enough to knock McPherson High’s volleyball team down two spots in the latest Kansas Volleyball Association poll released Thursday, as the Bullpups are now No. 4 in Class 4A.
MHS, now 20-2, lost in the Newton Invitational finals to Wichita Northwest, which was ranked No. 5 in Class 6A. That victory obviously impressed the pollsters, as Northwest vaulted two spots to No. 3 Thursday with a 22-1 record.
There will be movement next week, though, as top-ranked St. James Academy moved up to Class 5A on Thursday, meaning Class 4A is assured of a new champion. St. James defeated MHS for the state title last year.
Topeka Hayden is ranked No. 2 in 4A, followed by Chanute, MHS and Rose Hill.
