Construction is on schedule for an ADA disabled-accessible ramp behind the McPherson County Courthouse.
WHAT IT IS Construction is on schedule for an ADA disabled-accessible ramp behind the McPherson County Courthouse. County Administrator Rick Witte said the project has been in the planning stages for the last five to seven years. “The current lift is just a chair lift with restrictions for both height and weight,” Witte said. “This should alleviate those concerns.” The new ramp will be located at the back of courthouse and wind up to ground level from the basement. From there, disabled visitors to the courthouse will have access to the other levels through the building’s elevators. Additionally, Witte said officials plan on shifting parking around following the conclusion of the project. “We’ll probably change our parking at that time to direct handicapped accessible parking to the rear,” Witte said. “We also have some new handicapped parking spaces to the west, as well.” Work is being done by Vogts-Parga Construction, North Newton, for $228,430. Witte said the project should be completed by mid-November. CARE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT SOMETHING? Drop us a line: Cristina Janney, managing editor PHONE 620-241-2422 E-MAIL email@example.com MAIL P.O.
