KWC UMW held its annual meeting at Clay Center UMC, on Sept. 15.
The theme was, "Walk With Wholeness" based on Micah 6:8. The meeting began with welcomes from L'Jeane Mugler, Clay Center UMW unit president, and Salina district president, Carolyn Chaffe. Rev. Larry Myers, Clay Center UMC, gave the invocation. Billie Blair, Tallgrass Spiritual Retreat Center was the keynote speaker. Rudo Dozva, KWU student from Zimbabwe, spoke about her time here at the university.
The morning offering of $847.50, was given to UMW Undesignated Mission Giving in honor of Betty Hodson, retiring women's division director from Kansas West Conference. Committee reports were presented and KWC UMW Treasurer, Elaine Heskett, presented the Pledge service. Election of offices was held and Rev. Lew Van De Wege installed new officers. Rev. Larry Myers and Rev. Lew Van De Wege celebrated Holy Communion.
The 2013 meeting will be hosted by Wichita East District at College Hill UMC, Wichita. Attending from Windom/McPherson area were Anita Jost and Shirley Ade.
Youthville has created a program recognizing UMW Groups levels of giving. Gifts are counted for the previous fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). Those who meet the specific level of giving receive an appropriate artwork (created by Youthville children). The five levels are: Big Heart, $360-$599; Wholehearted, $600-$1,199; Heart and Soul, $1,200-$2,499; Heartfelt, $,2500-$,4999; Heart of Gold, $5,000 and above.
McPherson UMW received a Heart and Soul award for the 2011 year.
