  • The congregation of a McPherson church is coming together Saturday morning to raise funds for a women’s ministry program. The Women of Hope women’s ministry is sponsoring a fall festival at the New Hope Evangelical Church, 501 Wickersham, from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday. Finance Administrator Marge Percival said this is the first year for the fundraiser. “We’re going to have lots of craft items and lots of baked goods,” Percival said. “This has really turned into an all-church thing, as the guys have brought in stuff as well.” One of the centerpieces of the festival will be a silent auction for a full-sized quilt, with bidding to start at $300. Percival said there will be items of interest for everyone. “We’ll have beautiful lap and baby quilts,” Percival said. “Jewelry made by one of the ladies of the church and 25 tote bags made by another of the ladies.” All proceeds from the sale will go toward the Women of Hope ministry. “They’ll use it for bringing in speakers, holding seminars, going to conferences and holding bible studies,” Percival said. Percival said coffee and cinnamon rolls will be made available for visitors. For more information, you can contact Percival at the New Hope Evangelical Church by calling 245-0303.
