  • In the spirit of the Halloween season, Broadway RFD is once again presenting “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” “We had great success with it two years ago. The audience had a great experience,” said Broadway RFD President Christina Bartlett. Based on the classic American short story by Washington Irving, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” is the story of Ichabod Crane, played by Dan Metcalfe, a local school teacher in love with the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, played by Katie Mannebach. Also chasing after Katrina is Brom Bones, played by Eric Lundstrom, a local bully set on causing Ichabod as much grief as possible. Following a town dance, poor Ichabod is terrorized on his way home, leading him to experience one of the most infamous scenes in classic horror fiction. To help the audience participate fully in the story, Natalie Nelson, Zach Allen and Suzanna Swenson will serve as narrators and guides for the story. As part of the experience, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will be performed at The Old Mill in their Heritage Square. It is an area that showcases architecture from the 1800s, reflecting the time period that “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” is set. “It’s very atmospheric. The audience will travel outside from building to building where the different scenes are portrayed. Heritage Square really helps us set the scene for the show,” said Molly Johnson is the director for the show. “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” will be performed at 7 and 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Old Mill in Heritage Square. Due to the venue, limited seating is available for each of the four performances. Tickets are $10 each for adults. One child aged 10 or under will be admitted free with each adult ticket. Each additional child is $5 each. After the show, Broadway RFD will sell cups of hot cider and hot chocolate. “I think this will be a really unique and fun way to experience the Halloween season,” Bartlett said.
