Soybean production is forecast at 82.5 million bushels, up 17 percent from September but down 19 percent from last year. If realized, this would be the smallest Kansas soybean production since 2003.
Planted acres are estimated at 4.0 million, up 11 percent from June but unchanged from 2011. Harvested acreage is forecast to be 3.75 million acres, up 12 percent from last month but down slightly from the area harvested last year.
Yield is forecast at 22 bushels per acre, up 1 bushel from the September forecast but down 5 bushels from last year’s yield. If realized, this would be the lowest Kansas soybean yield since 2000.
