Ag minute: Cotton production forecast down

Cotton production is forecast at 45,000 bales, down 35 percent from last year and down 4 percent from last month. Planted acres are estimated at 57,000, down 23,000 from last year. Harvested acreage is forecast to be 52,000, down 13,000 acres from 2011. Yield is forecast at 415 pounds per acre, down from 510 pounds per acre in 2011.
