McPherson's Allison Ivers places at state tennis.
EMPORIA — McPherson High’s Allison Ivers was the lone placer for the Bullpups when the Class 4A State Tennis Tournament was completed Monday at Emporia.
Ivers took 10th place in singles.
Katherine Geist also competed in singles for MHS and had to play Ivers in the consolation bracket.
Both Bullpup doubles teams came up short of advancing to the medal round, Taylor Swartzendruber-Brooke Bate and Camry Holly-Emily Ediger. The Bullpups scored 13 points to take ninth, one spot ahead of Smoky Valley, whose lone entrant, Jessica Van Ranken, was seventh in singles.
Wichita Collegiate won the title with 68 points, while Independence was second with 33 and Topeka Hayden was third with 26.
MHS qualified its entire team, with Ivers being the only senior.
